Last week, Riley, Wyatt, Mitch and myself took off to Minneapolis, Minnesota for a hockey trip. It was my turn to go with the boys and I was lucky enough to have Wyatt come with me on this trip. I always like to go on the trips when it's someplace I have never been. I had been to Minnesota one time and that was just a layover that my friend Erin and I had. We had a long enough layover to take the tram to the Mall of America. I didn't get there this trip as three of the Bobcat teams were in this tournament. I watched A LOT of hockey! Thank goodness I love it!
The day after we arrived, we woke up to TONS of snow. I had rented the car and thank goodness I got a midsize SUV. I still can't believe how fast everyone drove in the snow. I also couldn't believe how clear the roads were by the end of the day and that even though it was only 16 degrees outside, the roads were WET, not frozen. Weird!
The snow sure was beautiful, especially with blue skies. I kinda wish the SUV I drove didn't have all wheel drive. I tried doing dounuts in the empty parking lot and it wasn't very fun. :(
We stayed at the Marriott Minneapolis City Center. I think I had a pretty awesome view from my room. Such beautiful buildings.
Riley played two games on this trip. His team won both games he was in net for.
Riley even got a shut out this weekend. I was so proud of him. I was super excited that an old friend who's son used to play with Riley and her oldest son played with Wyatt, showed up to watch a game. Jackie and her husband Mike, who had coached Wyatt and their son Dillon and daughter Victoria came. It was so good to see them. Having Jackie by my side while Riley was in net was just like old times! Loved it!
Hockey moms unite!
The boys had a great time on and off the ice.
All in all, it was a great time. The boys made it to the semi finals, but lost to Shattuck St. Marys. They happen to be the #1 team in the 99 division in the US. We were supposed to crossover and play the Winnepeg Hawks, but the Midwest Revolution had a fit about playing Shattuck and the tournament director gave in and let them play the Hawks instead of us. Total bummer. I'm pretty sure we could have taken them. Coming in 3rd out of 12 teams isn't bad. We'll take it.
